How to Style a Workout Set With Just the Right Feel
How to style a workout set: start with the fit, not the colour. A set with clear construction gives you a calm silhouette before you add anything else. The rest is adjustment.
A considered set handles several roles. It stays put during the session, feels comfortable on the way home and looks dressed when the day continues. These are the principles we work from.
Start at the waist
A high waist creates a line through the body and lets the top and jacket land where they should. When the leggings stay in place, you do not need long layers to compensate. High-waisted leggings are the natural base in most sets.
Colour that makes the set useful
Muted tones get worn the most. Black, stone, deep navy. They take frequent wear and they take combining. Black leggings work with almost everything you already own.
Monochrome styling is still the safest way to make a set read as one piece. Top and leggings tone on tone. If you want to break it, use an outer layer in a neighbouring shade rather than a hard contrast.
Layers without losing the shape
This is where looks lose their direction. The set sits well, but the layers on top blur the proportions. Think in lengths: a shorter jacket that ends at the hip lets the waist carry on doing its work.
Iconic G2 is built for exactly that. A wide, sculpting waistband holds the silhouette together, while the fit over the torso is looser. The zips are custom made in gold. At least one layer has to define the shape, and the jacket does it for you.
Shoes and details
A clean trainer with a defined shape goes a long way. White, black or tone on tone. Technical running shoes belong to the session, not to the day. The same goes for accessories: a structured bag and small earrings do more than many details together.
From gym to everyday
If the set holds its shape, the step from training to everyday is short. Pull on a jacket, change shoes, add a larger bag. More is rarely needed. For days without a session there are our Casual Zip sets, the same silhouette at a softer pace. How the pieces fit together is on the workout sets page.
Common mistakes
The most common one is trend before proportion. Too short a top with too low a waist. Too loose a jacket over an already voluminous lower half. Too many contrasts at once.
And black is never just black. A matte, deep black legging next to a washed-out top looks less considered than you think. If you work tone on tone, let the textures complement each other.
Choose pieces that already carry a clear shape and let the rest of the look support it. When fit, colour and layers work in the same direction, the whole feels self-evident.
Anything but ordinary.
