Trends in women's sportswear to follow in 2026

Trends in women's sportswear move more slowly than fashion in general. What changes is the demands you place on the garment, rarely the silhouette. A pair of tights should handle a strength session in the morning, a day of travel and a walk through town without changing character. That shift marks 2026 more than any single colour or model.

We see it in the questions we get. Fewer are about looks. More are about how the waistband behaves after twenty washes, whether the fabric stays opaque in a deep squat, whether the jacket can be worn with something other than training clothes. Those are questions about construction.

Fit is the clearest trend

The direction right now is garments cut with precision rather than to standard measurements. High waist, shaped side panels, seams placed to follow the body in motion. The difference rarely shows in the picture. You notice it when you rise out of a squat.

In sculpting training tights the whole work lies in the pattern construction. A seam placed right frames the seat and keeps the fabric still. A seam placed wrong gives a crease you feel every time you bend your knee. Same fabric, same size, completely different garments.

Edge Stripe training tights follow that principle. A high fitted waist that holds in, a sculpting effect over waist, stomach and seat, and a heart-shaped back cut. The compression is measured and supports without pressing. In the waistband sits a hidden pocket. Details, until you notice you have stopped adjusting the garment between sets.

The test you do yourself. Stand in a deep squat in front of the mirror and look at the fabric over the seat. If it stays opaque and keeps its colour, the density is sufficient. Then stand up and feel whether the waistband has moved. If it has, it will do it again. Every set, for the rest of the garment's life.

The set has gone from trend to base

The matching set is no longer a fashion moment. It has become a way to avoid choosing. Two garments in the same tone give a coherent line in seconds, and the pieces work on their own when you want something else.

What makes a training set useful is that the pieces handle different company. The tights should work under a knitted jumper as well as under a sports bra. The jacket should stand a coat over it.

The jacket is the piece whose role has changed most. It should give a clean layer after the session and at the same time hold up over a vest top on the flight. Iconic training jacket G2 solves it with a wide elastic ribbed waist that shapes the small of the back and waist while the rest of the jacket falls loosely. The side zips are custom-made in gold with the Iconic collection's pattern, and the pockets can be closed. The fabric is moisture-repellent and quick-drying.

The set also makes travelling easier. Two garments in the same tone take little space, rarely crease and are enough for both the airport and a walk once you have landed. If you pack for four days, you manage with one set and one extra top.

The top decides the whole

The tights get the most attention, but it is the top that decides whether the whole looks considered. A top that ends at the wrong height breaks the line the tights create. One that ends right extends it.

Stick to two or three lengths you know work on your body. A shorter vest for a high waist, a longer model when you want more coverage. More options rarely give more combinations you actually use.

The colour of the top decides where the eye lands. A tone close to the tights keeps the silhouette coherent and long. A contrast splits the body into two fields, which can be exactly what you want some days.

Fabrics that are allowed to age

Recycled fabric is no longer enough as an argument in itself. The question has moved to what the fabric does after six months. A material can feel soft at the first try-on and still lose its spring after twenty sessions.

Edge Stripe and Slimline FlexFlow are made in ECO Circle, 78 per cent recycled polyester and 22 per cent elastane. The elastane pulls the fabric back to its original shape. The polyester stands for the wear resistance and for the garment drying quickly. A fabric that stretches easily without recovering feels supple at first and then bags at the knees.

Look at the recovery when you judge quality. Pull the fabric out and let go. It should want to return. A garment that stays stretched does the same thing on the body.

Care decides the rest. Fabric softener settles on the elastane fibres and lowers the recovery, and high heat does the same thing faster. A garment washed cool and air-dried keeps its shape considerably longer. Sustainability starts in the choice of material and is decided in the laundry room.

How to choose garments that outlive the season

Start with the use. If you mostly train strength, you need coverage, a stable waistband and a fabric that stays opaque at the bottom of the movement. If you move between work, travel and everyday life, the ability to combine the garment weighs heavier. The differences between different types of tights lie in the construction, and we have gone through them in the comparison between training tights and yoga tights.

Then choose a base in a colour you wear often. Black, deep navy, a warm neutral tone. Add a model that gives the wardrobe direction. A sports wardrobe becomes strong when the garments work together. The number matters less.

Common questions

Which trends in women's sportswear last the longest?

The ones about construction. Fit, waistband and the fabric's recovery affect the garment every time you use it. Colour and pattern are replaced faster.

Are matching sets still current in 2026?

Yes, but the role has changed. The set works as a base in the wardrobe rather than as a temporary statement. The pieces should manage to be worn on their own.

How do you know a pair of training tights will last?

Check the waistband, the placement of the seams and the fabric's recovery. Also read what others write about the fit after several months, not just after the first try-on.

Anything but ordinary.
