Seamless leggings: what seamless means and when it is the right choice
Seamless is the word that sells the most leggings and gets explained the worst. Seamless means the garment is knitted in one piece, instead of being cut from fabric and sewn together. That gives a fit that wraps the body without seams that dig in, chafe or show. But it is not the same as sculpting, and it is not always the right choice. Here is the difference.
What makes seamless leggings different?
The fabric is knitted with the structure built in. Ribbing, pattern and compression are part of the knit, not something sewn on. That makes seamless leggings feel like a second skin, and lets them shape with structure instead of with seams. Seamless Ribbed Happy Latte Tights are the clearest example: the ribbing defines without being felt, and the V-shape at the back creates a sculpted line along the thigh and glutes.
Does a knitted waist stay put?
Yes, if it is wide. A narrow elastic on seamless leggings rolls. A wide ribbed waist spreads the pressure and holds in softly, and that is what our seamless styles have. Seamless Sporty Chic Tights and Seamless Spirit Fawn Tights both have the wide ribbed waist, with seamless compression that lifts thighs and glutes.
Seamless or sculpting with seams?
Seamless for yoga, pilates, walking and days when you want leggings you do not feel. Sculpting with seams, like Goldline Black Sculpting Tights, for strength and sessions where you want more support and a shape built by the seams, not by the knit. The difference is not better or worse. It is soft versus firm.
Which colour?
Seamless wears beige and neutrals best, because the structure of the knit shows in light tones. Happy Latte is latte beige, neutral and warm. Spirit Fawn is a warmer fawn beige, neither beige enough to disappear nor light enough to stand out too much. Sporty Chic has a textured pattern that makes the leggings more sporty. All three are moisture-wicking and quick-drying, with four-way stretch.
Which size should you choose?
One size up. This is the most important thing in the whole article. Seamless leggings are knitted small and stretch to the body, and all our seamless styles run small. If you are usually an S, choose M. Then the waist sits where it should and the knit gets its proper structure instead of being pulled out.
How do you wash seamless?
Inside out, in a laundry bag, at 30 degrees, hang to dry. Skip the tumble dryer.
All styles are under seamless. See also sculpting leggings and high-waisted leggings.
