Activewear designed in Stockholm: what sets it apart from basics

If you are looking for activewear designed in Stockholm, the requirement is usually simple: the piece should keep its shape through the session, feel right on the way through town and be as considered after fifty washes as after the first. It is not a choice between function and expression. It is construction that makes both possible. We have been designing activewear in Stockholm since 2013, and this is what we mean by designed.

What sets designed activewear apart from basics?

The choices you do not see at first glance. A high waist that stays still without cutting in. Side panels that follow the line of the leg. A training jacket where the zip is centred and the seams placed to lift the silhouette. A basic covers. A designed piece does something for the body wearing it.

The Scandinavian eye shows in the restraint. The colours are easy to combine, the lines have a job, the details are there for a reason. A piece does not need to be overloaded to feel considered. A well-balanced panel, a shaped collar or a supple fabric is enough for a look that lasts several seasons.

A fit drawn for movement

Fit is more than size. It decides how secure the piece feels when you walk, bend, run or sit for a long time. Considered leggings stay in place at the waist and follow the body without being adjusted between sets. The fabric needs recovery, so the piece returns to its shape after wear.

For us, sculpting is a design choice, not a promise of a different body. Shaped side panels, seams placed with intent and a high sculpted waist frame the silhouette. Slimline FlexFlow Black/White is a clear example: sculpting seams, piping along the legs, a fabric soft enough for yoga and walking. Read more about how the seams work in the guide to sculpting seams.

High waist and the right balance

A high waist is a given for many, but the execution decides. The waist should give support and hold the line without rolling down or pressing. The transition between waistband and leg should be smooth, so the fit feels continuous in motion. Look at where the seams sit: around the seat, at the hips and thighs. They should follow the body, not compete with it. All our leggings are gathered under high-waisted leggings.

Material that holds up in more than one setting

A premium piece should not only be comfortable when new. The fabric should handle repeated movement, washing and everyday life without losing its tension or surface. Several of our pieces are sewn in ECO Circle, a polyester that is mostly recycled, with four-way stretch, moisture-wicking and quick-drying. We state it on every piece where it applies. Others are sewn in Swedish-made performance fabric. Both are chosen for the same thing: to feel the same wash after wash.

A dense fabric gives a cleaner silhouette and suits high-intensity sessions. A softer fabric with supple stretch suits the walk, the flight and a quiet day at home. The aim is not for one piece to solve everything, but for the wardrobe to have clear pieces for different kinds of movement.

Training jackets and sets with a clear function

A training jacket easily becomes the most worn piece in the wardrobe. It comes along before and after the gym, on the walk, between meetings and on the trip. So it should not feel like a cover-up you put up with. A sculpting jacket with a fitted cut, shaped seams and a well-placed zip keeps the silhouette clean and does its job.

A matching set makes everyday life simpler. Leggings and jacket in the same tone work when you want to be ready quickly and still look considered. The parts should also work on their own: the leggings with a knitted jumper, the jacket over Slimline Sculpting Tank Dark Grey, or a pair of Edge Casual Zip Pants with sneakers and a coat. It is in those combinations that the design shows its value.

How to choose pieces that get worn

Start with your actual week, not with an ideal image of how you want to train. If you walk a lot, travel often and train strength, a pair of stable sculpting leggings and a shaped jacket give more wears than several pieces with a narrow function. If you mostly do yoga or pilates, a softer fabric is the right priority.

Then ask what the piece has to hold. That the leggings stay up through heavy movements? That the jacket keeps its shape every day? That the set feels as right at a café as in the studio? The clearer the answer, the easier the choice. Reviews from other women help when they describe fit, length and durability: when the same piece comes up in training, travel and everyday, the construction works in more situations than it was drawn for.

A wardrobe with direction

Fewer pieces with considered construction make the activewear wardrobe more useful. You stop compromising on fit every time you head out, and the pieces stay relevant even when the session is over. It is rarely the cheapest choice in the moment. It is the most considered one when use, quality and style carry equal weight. See all activewear, designed in Stockholm. Anything but ordinary.
